Making America chip-ready: our mission

Every few decades a technology arrives that decides which nations lead and which fall behind. In the last century it was the automobile, then the airplane, then the computer. In ours, it is the semiconductor — the grain of engineered sand that runs every phone, every car, every machine, and every model of artificial intelligence now remaking the world.

America invented it. And America is, today, dangerously dependent on the other side of the planet to make it.

We started ChipReady because the hardest part of fixing that is not the machines. It is the people. You can fund a fabrication plant and pour its concrete in three years. You cannot pour a process technician, a packaging engineer, or a verification lead in three years — not the old way. The factories are coming home faster than the workforce to run them. That gap is the whole game, and it is the reason this organization exists.

What we are building

ChipReady is a 501(c)(3) building the best semiconductor education in America, and pairing it with technology that makes the act of learning itself faster. Three commitments sit underneath everything we do:

• Open the door. World-class education in chips — and soon robotics, quantum, and AI hardware — accessible to anyone, because this knowledge should not be locked behind a paywall or a zip code.
• Make the path personal. Meet each learner exactly where they are, from a curious high-schooler to a working professional retraining mid-career, and map the new careers no university yet teaches.
• Prove it with a job. Not a certificate. A placement. We carry a person all the way from learning to earning.

And beneath all of it, the part we care about most: technology that helps people learn how to learn. Most people don’t fail because the material is too hard. They fail because no one ever built them something that made starting feel possible.

The people behind it

This is not an idea on a whiteboard. ChipReady is led by a founding team carrying the operating discipline of Amazon and Microsoft, standing on a donated 50-module curriculum across the full semiconductor value chain. We are a named partner in PINES — a federal regional node spanning nine states and thirty-one institutions, anchored by Micron’s roughly $200 billion U.S. build-out. And we do not stand alone: we carry the active support of Senator Maria Cantwell, Senator Patty Murray, and Representative Suzan DelBene.

It is, in the truest sense, a deep alignment — between a national mission, the lawmakers who wrote it, the companies building the fabs, the universities training the talent, and an organization built to be the engine at the center.

The declaration

So here is our commitment, plainly: we will build the people who run the American century. We will make the path to a frontier-engineering career open, personal, and honest. And we will measure ourselves not by how many people we teach, but by how many we get hired.
