Privacy Notice

ChipReady.org (“ChipReady,” “we,” “us”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that trains people for work in the semiconductor industry. This notice explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and how long we keep it. It is written to be read, not to be waved at.

The short version. We collect the details you type into a form, and nothing else. We do not run analytics, advertising pixels or tracking cookies on this site. We never sell your information. We report on our programs to the organizations that fund them, and those reports are counts — not your personal details.

What we collect, and when

When you contact us

The enquiry forms on this site collect your name, email address, organization, role, and whatever you write in the message. We also record which form you used, so we know what you were asking about.

When you enroll in the ChipReady × University of Washington program

To place you in a lab session and stay in touch, the enrollment form collects:

• Required: first name, last name, email address, and what you do (student, working professional, faculty, or other).
• Optional: phone number — asked only for lab-day logistics — and your school or employer. You can leave both blank and still enroll.
• Your confirmation that you will be 18 or older on the day of your lab session.
• Whether you ticked the optional box asking to hear about ChipReady’s other courses.

About the age confirmation. The Washington Nanofabrication Facility requires everyone entering its cleanroom to be 18 or older, with no exceptions, so we have to ask. What we store is the confirmation itself — a yes, and the date you gave it. We do not ask for or store your date of birth, and we do not ask for any proof of age. Any check on the day is the facility’s, not ours. There is no age requirement for the four online modules.

As the program runs, we add to your record: which lab session you are assigned to, your results on each module quiz, and whether you attended the lab day. That is what lets us tell the funding organization how many people completed the program.

When you use the ChipReady learning platform

The course platform at app.chipready.ai holds an account for you and records your progress through the material — lessons completed, quiz attempts and scores, and anything you choose to save, such as a résumé you upload for a pathway assessment. You can delete your account and its contents by writing to us.

What we do not collect

• No demographic data. We do not ask your race, ethnicity, gender, age, income, disability or veteran status — not for the UW program, and not anywhere else on this site.
• No analytics or advertising. This site runs no analytics product, no advertising pixel and no third-party tracker. We do not build a profile of you and we cannot follow you to other sites.
• No tracking cookies. The only thing this site stores in your browser is your light-or-dark theme preference, kept locally so the site does not change appearance on you between visits. It never leaves your device and it tells us nothing.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — the sort every web server keeps, including IP addresses — for security and abuse prevention. We do not use them to identify or profile visitors.

Why we hold it

• To answer you when you get in touch.
• To run the programs you sign up for — placing you in a lab session, confirming your date, sending you what you need for the day.
• To report participation to the organizations funding a program, as described below.
• To send you updates you have asked to receive, and nothing you have not.
• To meet our legal and grant obligations.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.

The Washington Nanofabrication Facility. Before each lab session we send the facility the names and email addresses of the people assigned to it, so they can admit you to the cleanroom. Nothing else about you goes to the facility or to the University of Washington — not your phone number, not your employer, not your quiz results.

The organizations funding a program. We report on participation as numbers: how many people enrolled, how many completed the online modules, how many completed the lab day. Your name and contact details are not part of that report.

Service providers who operate parts of the service for us and are bound to handle your data confidentially and only on our instructions — website hosting and the database behind the forms (Cloudflare), transactional email (Resend), and the learning platform’s database and hosting (Supabase and Vercel). The learning platform’s AI companion is provided by Anthropic; conversations with it are not used to train models.

We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect someone’s safety or our rights — and we will tell you when we are permitted to.

How long we keep it

• UW program records are kept until our reporting commitment to the funding partner is discharged, which is May 2027, and are deleted or anonymized within twelve months after that.
• Enquiries are kept for as long as the conversation is live and for up to two years afterwards, so we can pick up where we left off.
• Learning platform accounts are kept while the account is open, and deleted on request.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can unsubscribe from any update at any time — the link is in every email we send. Write to info@chipready.org and we will answer within 30 days.

Depending on where you live you may have further rights, for example under the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to object to processing, to ask for a copy of your data in a portable form, and to complain to your data protection authority. We honor those requests wherever you live, not only where we are obliged to.

Asking to delete your details while you are enrolled in the UW program means we can no longer place you in a lab session — we will say so before we act, not after.

Young people

The cleanroom lab session is restricted to people aged 18 or older by the facility. The online material has no age restriction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent or school authorization; if you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

Access to program records is limited to the ChipReady staff who run the program. Data is encrypted in transit, and the databases behind this site are not reachable from the public internet. No system is perfectly secure, so we do not claim ours is — but we will tell you promptly if something happens that affects you.

Where your data is held

Our providers store and process data in the United States. If you are writing to us from outside the US, your information will be transferred there.

Other sites

Where we link to another organization’s website, their privacy practices are their own, not ours.

Changes

If we change this notice we will update the effective date above, and if the change materially affects people already enrolled in a program we will email them rather than rely on them noticing.
